Signs You Need an Acura Key Fob Battery Replacement

What are some telltale signs that you need an Acura key fob battery replacement? The first sign that your battery is close to dying is when your key fob only works on occasion. If you’re having to constantly press the unlock and lock buttons on your key fob, it’s time for an Acura key fob battery replacement.

How to Change the Battery in an Acura Key Fob

Now, onto the good stuff: how do you change the battery in an Acura key fob? It’s simple, actual. Once you successfully replace your Acura key fob battery, you’ll be back onto Pooler roads in no time. Here’s how to open an Acura key fob and replace the battery:

  1. You’ll first need an Acura key fob battery replacement, which is a CR2032 button cell battery. If you don’t know what battery your Acura key fob requires, consult your owner’s manual or reach out to our service team. You can also order the correct battery from our parts center.
  2. Once you finally have the correct battery, locate the “tab” on your Acura key fob to remove the metal key required to open the fob.
  3. Carefully, use the metal key to remove the outer cover on your Acura key fob.
  4. Using a flathead screwdriver, remove the dead battery.
  5. Put in the Acura key fob battery replacement where the dead battery once was. Make sure the positive (+) side is up.
  6. Place the outer case of the fob back on until you hear a “click”!
  7. Return the metal key back to its original position in the Acura key fob.
  8. Success! Your Acura key fob should be working again!
