Seasonal Maintenance & General Check Point Service Tips

To keep your Acura good as new, it’s important to follow a vehicle maintenance checklist. On a monthly basis, you should be checking your tire pressure as well as your oil and fluids. For every 3,000 miles on your Acura, you should change your oil, oil filter, and refill your washer fluid. Every six months, you want to wax your car, and check your power steering fluid level. But annually, you should be checking everything at least once: brakes, coolant, cabin filters, hoses and clamps, etc.

To learn more about caring for your Acura throughout the year, keep on reading on for seasonal maintenance tips in the following guide from the Southern Motors Acura service department.

Seasonal Maintenance Tips

Below, you’ll find a breakdown of what actions you should take to keep your Acura in tip-top shape during each season. Keep the monthly vehicle maintenance checklist in mind as you read through:

  1. Fall Maintenance

Fall maintenance is all about prepping your Acura for the winter. Though winters are pretty mild in Pooler, it’s still never a bad idea to make sure your car is ready for winter ahead of time.

  • Wax or polish your car. Fall is best to do this, since it’s too cold to wax your car during the winter. When you wax or polish your car, it’s best to focus on the lower panels of your car’s exterior for added protection against pesky salt and soil during the wintertime.
  • Rubber floor mats. Get rubber mats for your car that are specifically designed for the soils that you track in your car during sloppy weather.
  • Switch to winter tires, if possible. As mentioned earlier, winters are pretty mild in the Hardeeville area, but in the case of sleet or inclement weather, having winter tires comes in handy.
  • Check brakes, windshield wipers, car battery, and antifreeze levels. You’ll want to check these ahead of time to make sure there are no problems with them/or need replacing.
  1. Winter

Fall prepping should take care of most of your maintenance needs for the winter. Winter is all about keeping your vehicle as clean as possible to avoid any salt buildup, which can lead to rust. Winter is also about following the monthly vehicle maintenance checklist:

  • Wash your car regularly. Winter time means your car gets dirtier quickly, so you’ll want to wash your car more frequently to get any salt or soil off.
  • Clean upholstery. Dirt and grime tracks into your car more during the winter. Use a shampoo to remove stains out of your car’s carpet and seats
  • Vacuum your car. Remove winter soil buildup by vacuuming.
  1. Spring

Spring is all about “spring cleaning,” to revitalize your vehicle from the winter. You’ll want to repeat the winter tips by cleaning up your car’s exterior and interior, as well as the following:

  • Check tire pressure.
  • Check wiper blades.
  • Check filters.
  1. Summer

Summer calls for making sure your vehicle is ready to endure some hot temperatures in Richmond Hill:

  • Get an oil change.
  • Check your battery.
  • Check your brakes.
  • Check fluid levels.
  • Check tire pressure.
