Healthy dose of Southern hospitality
We recently vacationed in Savannah and were immediately impressed with its
history and beauty.
After taking a wonderful tour of the Historic District with Savannah Bicycle
Tours, we were hungry for lunch and our guide recommended a nearby
establishment. We returned an hour later to find that someone had thrown a rock
through the window of our Honda Ridgeline and stolen my wife's pocketbook.
This happened across the street from Southern Motors Acura. Mickey Rhinehart,
General Manager, and his team immediately offered sympathy and support. Had his
team not been so gracious, we would have most certainly cut our stay short and
returned home.
Instead, our truck was taken into his shop where the glass was vacuumed out
so that it could be driven safely. They ordered a replacement window immediately
so that his able crew could make our truck right.
When it was found that the window would not be available until the following
day, his team assured us that the truck would be kept indoors overnight to
ensure its security. Then, to our amazement, we were offered one of his
pre-owned cars to use until the glass had been repaired.
We can't possibly state how impressed we were. What was very evident was
pride in their dealership and a commitment to doing things right, as well as
obvious pride in the City of Savannah. They were clearly disappointed that
anyone visiting Savannah would have had such a negative experience.
Because of Southern Motors Acura's team, we have very fond memories of
Savannah and a clear understanding of what is meant by Southern hospitality.
By the way, kudos to the Savannah-Chatham Police Department, which
apprehended the two perpetrators of the crime. Again, we are impressed with
Savannah.
